Eni begins drilling of exploration well offshore Ghana

EBR Staff Writer Published 08 February 2012

Eni Ghana exploration and production has commenced drilling of the Nunya-1X exploration well on the Keta block, offshore eastern Ghana.

The exploration well in the Volta River basin is being drilled with the Marianas semi-submersible rig.

The Nunya prospect is a four-way dip closed structure with a primary reservoir target comprising Upper Cretaceous deep-marine fan sandstones which are analogous to those that have yielded significant discoveries elsewhere along the West Africa Transform Margin.

Eni is the operator of the Keta block with a 35% interest and its other partners in the block are Afren (35%), Mitsui (20%) and GNPC (10%).
